The light show at the Piazza dei Signori finally concluded. I was very pleased with the show and I enjoyed the lighting on the heritage buildings around the piazza. Even though it was already night, I thought that I should go to one more site before I have dinner. The final Palladian site I will be visiting towards the river. The Palazzo Garzadori was easy enough to find with its gothic style windows on the upper floor. I am not sure how it works since this once seems to be a little small but it is still called a palazzo. Maybe it goes in deeper than it looks.

The Palazzo Garzadori is yet another heritage structure that is credited to Andrea Palladio. What may not be that obvious was that there wasn’t much left of the upper floor. At least on the corner, there was only the facade of the second floor remaining. I think that part is the most striking one compared to the lower floor. I’m no architecture student but think might be the first time I have seen a Palladio work use gothic style. I guess, most of the structures that I have seen here which related to Palladio have very prominent columns which I have come to associate with Palladio. This is the first time I have seen one where the windows are the most prominent feature. I tend to associate gothic style with churches, This is one of the few times that I see residences incorporate the gothic style in the design. I didn’t go in the Palazzo Garzadori, it appears to be an upscale restaurant.
