I was very relieved to be on the move again. I got stuck in the ice at the Sassolungo viewpoint and I managed to get some help from locals. I don’t know what I would have done if they weren’t there. While I know that there was still a lot of time for me to wait for people to pass through, there is no guarantee that there would actually be someone who would stop and help. I was warned that I had summer tires on and I might get into trouble again. I decided to go for it and continue on my planned route. I thought that I just don’t park on top of ice again and I should be fine.

The road back to Venice is long, winding but incredibly beautiful. I don’t know how much of the road was planned around the scenery but I think they did a very good job at building this mountain road. It wasn’t a poorly maintained back road either. It was all nicely paved and free of snow and ice. At this point, the road was starting to gradually go down but it still goes through the mountains. The latest stop I made is one along the Gardena Pas or Pas de Gardena. This whole area is called Val Gardena or Gardena Valley. This stop gives me yet another view of some mountains in the Dolomites. There is a rifugio at this stop included a restaurant but it didn’t seem to be operational. I parked beside the rifugio at an ice free spot and hope that I won’t get into trouble.
