I wasn’t expecting to be riding a cable car this morning but here I was. Not too far from the hotel was the Seceda Cable Car station. This cable car system takes visitors from Ortisei to Seceda which is a known skiing destination. I was here more for photography rather than skiing. Looking at the people riding the cable cars, they were all in skiing gear and I was getting worried. I wasn’t sure if there would be anywhere for me to go to if this was a purely skiing destination. They did let me on the cable car which means that people without gear can still go.

I got a car all to myself and as soon as the cable left the town of Ortisei, I was surrounded by the peace and quiet of the Dolomites and the Alps. It was actually quite sudden and very much appreciated. All of a sudden there wasn’t any noise, apart from the sound which the cable car makes when crossing the towers which make up the cableway. While there was snow on the ground, I was a bit disappointed to see that it isn’t covered in the stuff. I was wondering if that will still be the case when we get to the mountain. The cable car was rising thought I didn’t think it was rising steep enough that there would be more snow. However, looking back to where the cable car came from, I can see that the Ortisei getting smaller and smaller and further and further down. It seems that we are indeed climbing a mountain, I just doesn’t feel that steep yet.
