I thought about walking around Lago di Braies by starting at the entrance and walking clockwise, following the lake shoreline. It wasn’t long until I quickly ran out of trail to follow and there was only lake in front of me. This time, I didn’t turn back. Yes, the lake is in front of me, but it is also frozen solid, which meant that I can continue. I decided not to follow the shore since there weren’t any people walking there and instead I started walking across the lake on top of the ice. It was certainly a very fascinating feeling to be walking on top of the ice since it was a very novel experience for me.

The ice appeared to be very thick and solid that it didn’t feel like there was any danger of falling through the ice. Of course, I won’t know anything about that since this was my first time walking on a frozen lake. I would imagine that there would be signs if the lake wasn’t safe to walk on that point in time. Plus there won’t be any people walking on top of it if that were the case. There was a few inches of snow on top of the ice as well. This made the lake much easier to walk on compare to bare ice. Again, I don’t have proper shoes to walk on snow or ice but I seem to be faring pretty well. While I didn’t have a path in mind, I would just try to follow the people ahead of me to make sure that it was safe to step on those spots.
