Lago di Braies is the most popular of the alpine lakes in the Dolomites, a look at the photos of this lake would explain everything. Unfortunately, none of those photos would be mine because the lake was frozen when I was there. It was still a very nice experience just to walk around the frozen lake and enjoying the winter scenery. I reached a slight elevation which happens to have a bench, a very cold bench. I would imagine that this would be a great place to appreciate the view of Lago di Braies when it isn’t all frozen. The beautiful turquoise color would have been a sight to behold.

In the summer, this would probably have been the end of the hike at least in this part. However, since the lake is all frozen, this means I can continue on my walk. I can see people have already done that. I have been to Lago di Landro earlier in the morning and it was also frozen. I wondered if it was possible to walk on top of the ice but there wasn’t anyone there to be my guinea pig. Here at Lago di Braies, the guinea pigs are all over the frozen lake. This tells me that it is very safe to walk on top of the lake. This is my first time to walk on top of a frozen lake and I am very excited to do so.
