There was a large number of visitors at the Lago di Braies in Northern Italy. I know this was the most popular lake in the region but it was winter and I didn’t expect that many people this time of the year. It is still not summer crowds but there were significantly more people here than I expected. Fortunately, the lake it large enough that people can be easily dispersed in the area. Despite the lake being frozen, there are still activities that people can do around the lake. First and foremost of these is hiking! I don’t have the best equipment to walk in the snow but at the very least my shoes are not slippery.

From the old wooden house at the edge of the lake, I decided to continue left and see what is there. Maybe I can take this chance and walk around the lake if I can. The crowd thins out considerably here and it is basically just a handful of people here enjoying the peace and quite of the winter scenery. At this point, I can see that this part of the lake isn’t frozen, but I think it would only be a matter of time before it finally freezes over. I have never done any winter hiking and this is probably the closest I have some to doing that. I can see the pleasure one can get from walking on the snow and looking at the peaceful scenery all around you.
