I was a on a whirlwind tour of the Dolomites and I was liking it so far. The mountains here are very beautiful with the Dolomites themselves having unique peaks that make them stand out. It was winter when I visited and there was already a lot of snow in the region. In fact, one of the lakes I passed by earlier was already frozen solid. I know I should have expected this but I was still surprised by it. Fortunately, the roads were clear of snow and ice and it was very safe to drive here. I continued on my drive until I came across another area which had a lot of vehicles. It seemed like a popular area, so I went in to have a look.

Lago di Dobbiaco, is one of the larger lakes here in the area. Like a lot of the lakes here, it is fed from the mountain water compleete with minerals which give the water that beautiful color. In the summer the color very much pronounced but it wasn’t summer now and it was totally the opposite. There was a hint of the turquoise color in the water but because of the lighting it wasn’t easy to see. What’s more, parts of the lake have started to freeze just like the earlier lake I visited. While it is disappointing to not be able to see the beautiful colors of the lake, it is still fascinating to see a lake freezing in slow motion. You’ll have to forgive me since I don’t see this that often.
