The town of Santa Caterina in the Veneto is just a random stop for me on my way through this part of the Italian Alps. The beautiful color of the artificial lake convinced me to stop here, though it was a shame that the sun was already behind the mountains when I got there. I am sure that this place will be incredibly beautiful in the summer. Apart from this surprised view, I didn’t really know what else is there to see here. It seems that there are also a number of hotels here which means that people really do come here for their holidays. There were only a handful of people taking photos here but makes me think that this is not the best time to visit.

I was making my way back from the dam to where I left the car when I came across what looks like a small chapel. The chapel is also hundreds of years old having been built in the year 1554. The fresco is reminiscent of the ones I saw in Cividale del Friuli and like those, this one here in Santa Caterina is also starting to fade, thought I think this would fade much faster since it is wide open. It was also December when I visited and there were some nativity images added at the foot of the image. I only got to see this side of the chapel since it seemed to be closed. This was a pleasant surprise to see here in the Santa Caterina, it just goes to show you that there is so much to see here.
