I got the Lombard Temple at Cividale del Friuli checkmarked and I was ready to move on. I got up early today to go to Cividale del Friuli and much as I want to properly visit the charming old town, I needed to move on. I will continue my drive up north and to the mountains. If Cividale del Friuli had its challenges in public transportation, anything further would be even more challenging. This is why I needed a car in the first place. I needed to visit the mountains around this area but I also do not have a lot of days to do that I will be in the mountains for a few days and I would be heading down and returning the car soon after. For now, there is a lot of driving in this mountainous region of Norther Italy.

There are no expressways here in this part of the country but then again, traffic isn’t that heavy that they would need them. There are no major cities in the league of Rome or Milan in this area so there isn’t any huge demand for wider roads. Having said that, because the roads are going through the mountains, they can be quite narrow and frightening if you aren’t used to driving here. I was taking my time since I think I am still on schedule. As I said, traffic isn’t that heavy here that there would be a line of cars behind me even if I drove very slow. What I do notice is that there are more signs about slippery roads. What’s more the mountains are starting to turn white. It wasn’t super cold yet but it was enough for snow to fall on the mountains. The scenery is breathtaking but I need to keep my eyes on the road.
