I was finally done with the visit to the Lombard temple in Cividale del Friuli, there was a last minute surprise where I ended up at the main attraction of the monastery. I believe that if it weren’t for that lady at the desk, I wouldn’t have known where the temple actually was. Perhaps that was also intentional since they want to be able to monitor visitors who come here. I eventually went through the official exit of the monastery. I say that since I almost went in there earlier in the day when I couldn’t find the entrance to the monastery. With that out of the way, it was time for me to see the rest of Cividale del Friuli.

It may not look like it now, but Cividale del Friuli was very important back then. That is why there are multiple important looking structures here in the old town center. I was fun to just randomly walk around the old town center. I would eventually find myself at what is considered to be the episcopal complex. The monastery is already part of it but there is also the cathedral which I somehow missed. The cathedral wasn’t open at the time of my visit which is a shame since I wanted to be able to see inside. It is also part of the UNESCO World Heritage site listing, so I think there would have been something interesting there as well.
