My final stop, not just in Canyonlands National Park, but also in my visit to Utah’s National Parks is the Grand View Point Overlook. I know that it isn’t ideal to visit Canyonlands National Park in just one day but I did so anyway. The park is divided in to four districts and I ended up visiting just the Island in the Sky district, which is the easiest one to visit. I was at the end of the main driving route of the Island in the Sky District and it doesn’t go any further even if you want to keep going. Grand View Point Overlook serves as a good sendoff for a great visit to the national parks of Utah. I know it isn’t as impressive as the Grand Canyon, but I think it can still hold its own against the famous park. After all, they have the same parents in the Colorado River.

I found it interesting to see that are canyons within the canyon. I think it is most evident here at the Grand View Point Overlook. There is a large gash in the canyon floor of the first canyon. Looking on, you can see that there is another canyon floor that was carved out subsequently, making it even deeper. Perhaps this is just part of the natural process which deepens the canyon. As of the moment, it looks like there are still two levels to the canyon but eventually the walls would erode away creating an overall larger and deeper canyon. The inner canyon actually looks rough but you can tell that there are various stone formations here. I needed to use my telephoto lens to have a closer look. I wonder if it is possible to take a four wheel drive there. It is a shame that this viewpoint is so far away but I think that is the idea.
