I was having a look at the map of Canyonlands National Park and I realized how large this national park actually is. It is the largest I have been to on this trip but it seems it is also the most annoying to visit. I say annoying because it is extremely unlikely that I would be able to visit the entire national park simply because the driving route only goes up to a certain part of the park. Of the four districts of the national park, it seems that I would only be able to see the Island in the Sky district. There are others like the Needles, the Maze and the Rivers but they are not directly accessible by normal car. Looking at some dirt trails, it seems that a four wheel drive is needed here.

I think it is a shame but that also gives me a reason to come back here. I can see that Needle is accessible through another entrance but I don’t think I would be able to do that anymore. For now, I will just follow the Island in the Sky driving route. Most of the visits here in the park would be overlooks for canyons. The next canyon on the list is the Green River Overlook. There two main rivers at work here at Canyonlands National Park but the Green River is the more influential here. As the name implies, there is an overlook here to see the Green River. It is not the Colorado River but it is still a powerful river to have helped create this stunning landscape that made the park.
