I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise to me as to what is there to see here in Canyonlands National Park. I had no illusions that this was a Grand Canyon, but surely there would be great canyon views here in the park. I already had a great start at Mesa Arch in the morning. If you can look past the amazing arch right in front of you, you can see that this is all on top of a deep canyon. I think there would be a lot of these places here. As with places like these, there is usually water involved when making places like these.

In the case of Canyonlands National Park, it is the Green River which is the main agent of erosion here. I am not sure as to the extent of the activity of the river but you still see the river snaking through these canyons and still working away. I would like to imagine that it was much bigger before just like the Colorado river. In fact, the Colorado River is not that far away. I can’t see it from here yet but I got a feeling that the rivers would play an important part in this visit of mine to Canyonlands National Park
