Exposed Sandstone at Fiery Furnace in Arches National Park

The next stop in my visit to Arches National Park is the Fiery Furnace. There was bound to be a place named like this eventually. The colors at the park were just something you don’t see everyday. You also add the incredibly clear sky and you have great colors for your photos. While my friends would be amazed at the photos I would show them for this trip, praising my skill in taking photos. I would tell them that it was difficult to mess it up if the colors look like that. The Fiery Furnace is another example of this place. The red, orange and pink colors are so vivid that it looks like an open fire.

If you pay close attention to the exposed rock, you can see that there are layers to the rocks. I won’t go geologist here and pretend that I know the names of these layers but it is enough to say that this this rock is old and you can see that there are different types of material that have been laid here over the millennia. Geologic processes have then uplifted these rocks and water also had its way with it producing the rock formations that we see today. It isn’t as impressive as a natural arch but it is still great to see things like these.
