A Closer Look at Balanced Rock in Arches National Park
A Closer Look at Balanced Rock in Arches National Park

There was a large concentration of sandstone pillars of similar height at Arches National Park. This was named the Garden of Eden for obvious reasons. I didn’t go any closer to the Garden of Eden since there was something more interesting nearby. I might try to drop by here when I have time but for now, I will have to leave it be. From here, visitors get sweeping vistas of what they have visited so far. Already, some of the locations which I just visited seem so far away. The spot wasn’t too high but it was enough to see more of the area.

Not too far away is a familiar looking rock formation. It was the Balanced Rock. When I visited it earlier, the sun was in the wrong place and I had difficulty taking good photos. However, from this angle, the sun is behind me and I can see the Balanced Rock clearly even if it is now much further away. From this angle, I can also see how much more precarious the Balanced Rock actually is. Up close and depending on the angle, you might think that the pillar is just too thick to be in any danger of toppling over, but from here, it really looks like it is off center and it could fall any moment.
