The Narrows in Capitol Reef National Park is actually just part of what is called the Grand Wash Trail which follows a dried river bed along narrow canyons carved out by the now dried out river. However, it made sure to do a good job of it since there are towering cliffs which were carved out over the millennia as well as a Narrows which are two canyon walls closer to each other. It wasn’t that narrow but considering the forces as work here, it is considered narrow.

The trail is very easy as there was barely any slope at all. This allowed me to walk much faster than I normally would. I know that it is easy but I also don’t want to take too much time to hike this since I still have to continue on to another city where I would stay for a few nights. I saw this sign for Cassidy Arch which of course piqued my interest. I followed the directions and just kept on walking, and walking, and walking. Until much of the canyon was gone and there was more or less open area. I don’t think there would be an arch here and I was wondering if I missed a sign. Keeping an eye on the time, I decided to call it quits and forget about the arch, thinking that I would be seeing a lot more arches in the next few days.
