I was going to visit Capitol Reef National Park as part of making my way to the accommodation for tonight. I haven’t heard much about Capitol Reef National Park but since it was on the way to my accommodation for the night, I thought I can just make a quick visit and have a look around. I can’t afford to stay too long either since I will be staying at a city still two hours away. I first stopped at a pullout along the way to the part entrance. There wasn’t much to see here that I haven’t seen before but there was a sign here which says “The Fluted Wall”.

I didn’t know what “fluted” meant but I didn’t care since I just needed my photos. Being “fluted” means having ridges or grooves, which the wall certainly has. I didn’t think there was anything remarkable about the wall since this is quite common to see these especially in this region. I still haven’t officially entered the national park grounds so maybe that was just a small introduction to the place. This was a little different from the previous parks like Bryce Canyon National Park since this is all open road and not within the park. You can park for a few minutes here, take your photos and be on your way.
