Rock Formations Outside Capitol Reef National Park
Rock Formations Outside Capitol Reef National Park

I was out the whole day visiting Bryce Canyon National Park that I fell asleep almost immediately as soon I got in my little log cabin in the city of Tropic in Utah. It helps that it was nice and warm inside the cabin compared to the frigid temperatures outside. It technically wasn’t winter yet but this part of the country is higher in elevation which results in colder temperatures. I tried to do a little bit of stargazing, but it was too cold that I gave up and went back to the warmth of my log cabin.

I slept like a baby but not enough that I didn’t oversleep. Like most of these days, I will be leaving early so I can keep moving. I realized that I miscalculated and I was actually missing one day of accommodations compared to the number of days I allocated for the entire trip. I am hoping that I would be able to finish the next one fast enough that I won’t need to stay over.

My next destination is the Capitol Reef National Park. It is around a two hour drive from Tropic, Utah, so I should get started earlier. As you might expect, much of the area here is dry desert and there wasn’t much to look at. I just hope that Capitol Reef National Park lives up to its billing as a national park. I also hope that it is as easy to visit as Bryce Canyon where I only needed to drive around and get out to take photos. Yes, this is not the proper way to visit the national parks but doing it this way makes it easy to see most of the parks.
