Sunset at Paria View at Bryce Canyon National Park
Sunset at Paria View at Bryce Canyon National Park

I followed a strange route during my visit to Bryce Canyon National Park, visiting Sunset Point in the morning and visiting Sunrise Point in the afternoon. Obviously, I didn’t plan this very well but I think I still enjoyed my visit. It was already almost sundown and I just wanted some more photos to take and this time I want to take some sunset photos. There are two major spots to take sunset photos from. The first one would obviously be Sunset Point which is the most popular spot. The other one would be Paria View but less crowded. I visited during the low season, so there weren’t any tourist crowds to speak of, I still decided to head to Paria View to wait for sunset.

As expected, there weren’t any people at Paria View and I waited in the car waiting for sunset. The sky was very clear and already some parts of the canyon walls have been shadowed by the opposite canyon walls where the sun was slowly making its way behind. At this point, I knew that I wasn’t going to get the true sunset photo that I was used to where the sun would set beyond the horizon. Since Bryce Canyon is high up, the sun would be hiding behind the canyon rim before it would actually set. This is a little disappointing. I was hoping to catch some sunset colors but I think I would need to wait a little longer for that. As expected, it took some time for sunset to actually happen but all it did was darken everything up. I was disappointed but I wasn’t surprised since I knew and I saw exactly what was happening. Oh well, it was time to finally leave and check in to my accommodation.
