I know I keep saying this, but I got up early in my hotel thirty minutes away to try to catch the sunrise here in Zion National Park. The skies were overcast and I was disappointed that we didn’t witness any sunrise. The sun was trying to peek through the clouds but alas, there was just too much cloud cover that morning, which is a shame. I would have several days more here in Utah, hopefully, I would be able to catch a proper sunrise at least once. I have a few more chances, hopefully I would get lucky.
I initially tried heading out of Zion National Park only to see what else is out there but I still have a day here and I head back to the visitor center. By this time, it was full blown morning and there were much more vehicles plying the road. This road is the main way out of Zion National Park so it is hard to say if everyone is trying to get to Canyon Overlook but I wouldn’t be surprised to know that a lot of them would indeed be going there.
One thing which I didn’t get to appreciate when I came here this morning was the scenery going up the mountain. It was early morning then and it was hard to see the mountains. This time, everything is much brighter and I can see what I missed. This part of the canyon is rather narrow and it is hemmed in by two canyon walls which give you a much more intimate feeling with the canyon. There are several pullouts along the road here since the view is really that great. I had to stop a few times to take photos because, as you can see, the lighting was quite good. No sun, but still good.
