It looks like I will have a lot of time to visit Zion National Park. I got up early and was able to go to Canyon Overlook to catch the sunrise but unfortunately, the sun was a no-show. It was overcast and it is unlikely I would be able to get blue skies today. By the time I got back down to the trailhead, there were more visitors trying to make their way up the trail. I was glad I went early since I can see that there are significantly more vehicles here. I was still able to get out of the car park. Even the one in front of me was still there, so I think I didn’t stop anyone from leaving. I did give them enough space to reverse just in case.
The road actually leads out of Zion National Park. I won’t be leaving yet but I thought that I should just have a look around and see what else is there. I will be leaving the following day and I prefer that I keep driving without a lot of stopovers. I know it is hard to do here since there are a lot of places where visitors can pull over to admire the scenery. I think it is also deliberate since people on these roads will be driving a lot. Making them stop once in a while is actually good as far as road safety is concerned.
I haven’t gotten too far away from Canyon Overlook trailhead and there were already several pullouts where visitors can admire the scenery. They are strategically placed at where the nice scenery is, so I think they are very convenient. I just wish that there would be more signs pointing to an upcoming pullover. Some have it, but a lot of them don’t, at least in this area. That way, I can slow down knowing that there is actually something interesting to see nearby.
