Lorsch Town Hall

I had to take two trains to get from Speyer to the town of Lorsch. Right away, I knew that Lorsch was going to be a small town. It doesn’t even have a full train station. You basically arrive there, get off the train and on to the platform and you may or may not need to cross the tracks. There is a crossing area away from the platform but it is not like the other cities where you need to go under the tracks to cross it. Anyway, I just think that this town is small enough that I should be able to quickly finish whatever I came here to see.

Lorsch is best known for it’s centuries old abbey but I will get to that later. Obviously, the abbey won’t be right where the train station is, I still needed to walk a bit to get there. At least I will get to see the town a little closer. The town itself is pretty modern, but I think what stood out for me are the timber framed houses which are still present in the structures which I see along the way. One of the most impressive ones here is the Lorsch Town Hall. The structure sort of reminds me of a church with a bell tower on top. The colors are also very attractive and traditional at the same time. I like how the old town buildings would sport the same color scheme. Lorsch would have been a very attractive town back then.
