I should probably get used to this. The number of places that I have visited which turned out to be not open was far too many considering this was only my third day in Germany. I think a lot of places tend to not open in the winter especially if there aren’t that many visitors in the warmer months, what more if it is winter. I have little choice here since I already traveled so far just to get here. So I should just make the most of it. I started to make my way down the hill where the Rheinfels Castle is.

By this time, the sky is already much brighter and I can see that the sun has already started to peek through the mountains which rise above the river. The colors are much better now and I seem that the river itself has a lot more traffic now. Now, I can see how important the Rhine is for transportation. I can see large barges which carry goods which might otherwise be difficult to transport using rail. Additionally, there is the tourist ferry. There seem to be trips from Boppard and Sankt Goar but I don’t know if that huge ferry I saw actually stops at Sankt Goar, because it seems to be too large.
