Waiting for the Train at Brühl Train Station

I feel that I went to a lot of places today but at the same time I didn’t get to see much. I started in Aachen where I would find out that the Aachen Treasury wasn’t open. Because of that, I decided to finish my visit to Aachen, and made my way to the town of Brühl which is host to another UNESCO World Heritage site but to my chagrin, both sites were closed for visits. At least with the Augustusburg Palace and Falkenlust Hunting Lodge, I can still see the buildings and I guess that made me feel a little better. But one can’t help but only just imagine what it would have looked like inside. Granted that I didn’t really have much time to go around the palace anyway since it was already late in the day, I would have at least gone inside to have a peek.

The sun went down in the town of Brühl and I was already finishing up my visit to Augustusburg Palace. I thought that I planned this one well since I managed to see both sites and still have daylight to spare, no thanks to them being closed. I was glad that I was able to visit these sites since I would have not been doing anything if I went back to Köln. By this time, it was time to leave and there are frequent trains going back to Köln. You can tell that this is just a small town since there isn’t even a train station here. I think there used to be one outside but it seems to be something else now.
