I was a rather disappointing day for me. I visited two separate cities and towns but found that some of the places to visit are closed for the season. I don’t know if there was a way to know beforehand but it is was it is. It wasn’t a total loss because I still managed to see the place, but I just couldn’t get in. I still managed to take my photos somehow but of course, it could have been better. I got tired from all that moving all over the place and since it was already dark, I had to head back to Köln where I was staying.

It was just as well that I went back since it was already time for dinner. Brühl might not be the best place for me to find a place for dinner. I decided to head to the river near my hotel. There was a strip of restaurants here and I thought to pick one from here. One of them looked attractive inside but it was a weekend that first night and everyone seems to be there. This time around, I was able to get a seat very quickly. This is Löwenbräu Köln Hotel und Restaurant. You can see from the photo how attractive the interior of the restaurant looks. I think they were going for a traditional look and I think it works well.

Unfortunately, there is a downside to this interior decor. It was dark, and thus it was difficult to photograph my food. From the looks of it, they seem to cater to tourists because they have the menu in multiple languages. If they are famous enough for tourists to go there, then maybe they are pretty good. I had a look at the menu and decided to get one of the seasonal dishes – roasted goose. I was hoping that it would be similar to a dish I had in Poland. It wasn’t as nice though, it was almost like a totally different dish. In this case, I was given a massive goose leg. I didn’t know it was that big. The meat was probably baked and then roasted for a bit so the meat was very soft. The sauce wasn’t as sweet as I thought it would be, I guess it was okay.

To push it all down, I had a glass of Löwenbräu. Apparently, it isn’t a local brewery but one from Munich. The beer was unremarkable though. It did help push down the food. I don’t know if Löwenbräu has anything to do with the restaurant since it shares the Löwenbräu name. The roast goose leg, large as it was, disappeared very quickly. The restaurant did eventually fill up but still not as full as it was the previous day. It seems that this place is also popular with locals. I can’t blame them to want to come here since they designed the restaurant very well. Service was also very good since I was always being asked if I needed anything, which I appreciate a lot.
