Bright Angel Trail

First Tunnel at the Bright Angel Trail

As you might expect from a place such as the Grand Canyon, there are numerous trails which go all over the place. This includes epic ones which go from the South Rim, down to the canyon floor below and to the North Rim or vice versa. I met someone who was waiting for people who started at the North Rim and they were making their way to the South Rim. It is supposed to take around seven hours, but I think that depends on which trail you are taking, as there are several of them but seven hours seems to the minimum. When I spoke to that person it seems that the hikers are already at the bottom of the South Rim and they are making their way up. That is a massive elevation gain and I think that would take a lot of time.

The visitor center shows the temperature at the South Rim where it tends to be cooler and the canyon floor which tends to be hotter. It was already afternoon and the sun is blazing, I’m sure it is more than forty degrees Celsius where the hikers are. I just hope they make it back in safely. There is a rescue service but it would have to come out of your own pocket. One of the more popular trails at the Grand Canyon is is the Bright Angel Trail. This trail is best started at the Grand Canyon Village and people can make their way down. There were several points where people can terminate the hike depending on their plans. Most people would just go to the first tunnel and make their way back to the trailhead this just takes only twenty minutes. Of course, if you are so inclined, you can keep on going as there are destinations which can take twelve hours to trek round trip. As always, if you do plan to do this, make sure you have your stuff ready and pack plenty of water.
