Walking Up the Shepherd’s Path at the Giant’s Causeway

Our group had to split in two because the trail at the Giant’s Causeway started going uphill. Some people in our group are unable to make the hike so they turned back the way we came from while we continued on. Most people would be walking all the way to the end of the trail at the far end of the beach but we decided to cut it short and instead start walking up and back to the entrance. This part of the trail is called the Shepherd’s Path. I originally didn’t know about this path the first time I visited and just went back the way I came from but I didn’t know that the Shepherd’s Path opens visitors up to more sights to see.

The Shepherd’s Path traces a trail which goes up the mountain which is just behind the Giant’s Causeway. It is not terribly steep but it can still prove a bit of a challenge to some people. My advice is to take your time and just admire the view while you are at it. Visitors will be treated to a view of the Giant’s Causeway and given that it was a very beautiful day, I think I will enjoy this walk. There is a set of stairs at the far end of the Shepherd’s Path which helps visitors climb that last part of the trail which is admittedly a bit steep. Besides, you will not want people falling off the trail because it got worn down or because some recent rain made it slippery. I would be taking photos and resting while we were making our way up the stairs. I guess you can’t blame me, as you can see, the view is breathtaking.
