One of the pleasures of going around in Ireland is driving through the country and discovering various scenic locations. Killarney is one of the more beautiful places in the country so it is not a surprise to know that it is great to drive around this area. I would be going around the lakes and then back to Killarney town in the afternoon. Large parts of Killarney National Park is lakeland. It is actually a nice mix of geological features with mountains and lakes all within one location. There is a nice road which goes through these place so it is easy to get to. I like how convenient they make it to get to them and how there would be stopping areas along the way for some scenic spots.

I stopped at one particular spot on a small lake which leads to the Upper Lake in Killarney. The lakes in Killarney are interconnected as some of them flow into the others. From the spot you can see the lake and the mountains around the area. It was towards the end of winter and you can still see some snow on the mountain tops. I like this effect as you can’t see this during the summer where it would be all brown. There is a small strip of land where you can walk closer to the lake. The weather was frustratingly fickle. It was changing by the minute. One minute you would get rain, another minute you get clear skies. You have to patient when it comes to this. Maybe it is because it was winter and the weather tends to be more unpredictable.
