The following day in Chefchaoen was even more miserable than the previous night. The rain would come in bursts and as they say, when it rains it really pours. When I was making my way through the old medina, there was hardly any shelter to be found. By the time I got to the main square, I was already soaked and the day just started! I was pretty disappointed with the weather that day since I was hoping I would get nice blue weather to complement the nice blue walls of the city. Instead, I found myself having to wipe my lens dry every now and then. I didn’t have an umbrella either so I would just quickly snap a photo and continue on.
When I decided that I had enough I decided to seek shelter at one of the restaurants here in the square. It was still morning so I thought it would be great to go for breakfast and stay dry at the same time. I got a seat facing the square and watching people walk past. There were quite a number of Chinese tourists here and I was actually surprised that Morocco was in their radar. For breakfast, I had something called msemen which is basically some kind of flat dough and it is pan fried to a nice golden brown. This reminds me of prata which I would eat in Singapore or Malaysia. It is probably a totally different thing but msemen comes with different dips like butter or honey. I probably like honey the best. To keep me warm I had some nice Moroccan tea.
