Saint Florian’s Gate in the Old Town of Krakow

It was already dark in the Old Town of Krakow, but there fun is just starting. The lights of the old town have started to turn on. This makes the old town even prettier than it already is. I like how old town tend to do this. Not only does it make the town look better, it also makes it safer to walk in at night. There is still a bit of light in the sky, this gives the sky a nice blue color as a background for the illuminated buildings of the old town. I happened to be at one end of the old town and I notice that there was a tower at the end of the street – Saint Florian’s Gate.

Saint Florian’s Gate appeared to be one the towers which are part of the city walls. It serves as a gate for people coming in an out of the old town. There didn’t seem to be an equivalent tower on the opposite side of town which make me think that this was a preserved structure. Indeed the tower oozes everything medieval here. You can imagine lookouts posted here to watch out for invaders. The tower is also illuminated by floodlights which makes it stand out even more. From the outside of the city walls, one can see how it would have looked like to invaders.
