I was in Portmagee hoping to find someone who would be able to give me a slot for the next day but it seems that no one can say for sure. I was told to come back the next day and chance it. Portmagee is the launching point for the Skellig Islands, the most popular activity here. The Skellig Islands are part of the UNESCO World Heritage and were even made more popular by the latest Star Wars film of which part of it was filmed. I was hoping to get a slot for a boat but online was fully booked as well as the boat operators who I called up. My only chance was tomorrow.

With nothing to do, I decided to have dinner here. This was slightly better than the area where the bed and breakfast was. At least this as more than one restaurant. I ended up going to O’Keeffe’s Fisherman’s Bar and Restaurant. It looked like any bar here but it was quite busy considering it was already the end of the day. I guess there are a lot of tourists who stay in the village. I had a plateful of seafood. I was surprised with the portions and was naturally very happy. It wasn’t exactly the freshest seafood but it wasn’t bad. They even had crab claws. It is much easier to eat crab here since no one likes the body of the crab here. I tried asking for information about the boats for the next day but they only gave me a list of contacts for the boat operations as well as the usual, “try your luck tomorrow”.
