Moving on from Wandu Mountain City 丸都山城

Brick Road Leading into the Distance

Brick Road Leading into the Distance

We made a quick round of the tombs in the field near the Wandu Mountain City. Along the way, my guide would be pointing out that this tomb used to be owned by a rich guy and that used to be an official of the kingdom. He even pointed out two neighboring tombs which lay two noblemen brothers. The tombs here were surely very significant culturally and the local government has taken steps to preserve them and study them. There are said to be thousands of these tombs scattered throughout Ji’an as it happens to be the site of the capitals of the Koguryo Kingdom.

One of the sites of the Koguryo kingdom was also significant, but it seems we will not be going there as it is quite far from where we are. Wandu Mountain City is nearby Ji’an City and we will be staying close to the city for the tour. We head back to the car to continue on to the next site which was nearer the city this time. In fact, we can see a lot of Ji’an City from here. My guide asked me to register with the entrance since I have a through ticket. This time he will be staying behind while I explore the area.
