My friends decided that they wanted to get a bit of rest before we go out for dinner so we went our separate ways for now. I naturally wanted to go take photos of the old town. The lights have been turned on at the monuments and it is looking very good. The castle looks especially good since it has spotlights turned on in to highlight the building. Český Krumlov is probably one of the prettiest towns I have been to and I think it offers several viewing areas for photographers. We were at the bridge of Český Krumlov Castle earlier in the day and we managed to get overlooking photos from the bridge.

I thought to go back to the bridge and see if I can get photos of the town at night. Fortunately, I know how to get there this time around and soon, I was on my way up. I was a bit surprised to see that the bridge was still open this time of the night. I thought it would be closed after a certain time but it seems to be open all the time. When I got there to take photos, I realized that the very same spotlights which illuminate the castle at night we now aiming straight at me and, more importantly, my camera. This makes for a very difficult scene since the spotlights would be messing up the lighting, not to mention the photo. There are a actually several spotlights aimed at the castle and while you might be able to hide one of the spotlights somehow, you can’t escape the other ones. I just had to make to with the situation.

Call it sour-graping but the town didn’t look that great at night. I thought there would be more lights illuminating the individual buildings but it seems that can’t see it. I could be that the spotlights were overpowering the street lights but at this rate, I won’t be able to get any decent shots from here. Such a shame.
