Odle Peaks from Seceda
Odle Peaks from Seceda

I wasn’t expecting much when I thought to take the cable car up to the ski area at Seceda. I thought I would just have a look at people skiing and of course enjoy a little snow. I didn’t know that the view would also be great here. This area is actually part of the Puez-Odle Nature Park, of which Seceda is a part of. At this point, I was getting confused as to which one is the Seceda. There were several mountains nearby which are definitely higher than where I am. Looking it up only, these peaks are called the Odle Peaks, while the mountain I am on is called Seceda. The area here is also called Seceda, are you confused yet?

Either way, the easiest way to get up here is via the Seceda Cable Car in Ortisei. In the summer, there are a lot of trails to follow here and for sure that the scenery would be incredible. It was winter when I visited and all the trails here are buried in snow. There is a viewing area to the right where you can see more of the Odle Peaks. You can see the shape of the mountains are rather different. To my untrained eyes, they look like a mix of mountain building and glacial erosion. It really makes for an incredible view. It is just for this view that I think it would be worth coming back here when the trails aren’t buried in deep snow.
