Double Arch is one of more fascinating sandstone structures in Arches National Park. I know there are some more well known arches in the park but Double Arch is one of the more impressive ones. Double Arch is not too far from where The Windows are. Visitors will no doubt find themselves here but it is possible that they miss the Double Arch since most visitors would notice the North and South Windows first. The Double Arch nearby is actually not that conspicuous and it can be easily mistaken as just another sandstone formation.

A short walk from a nearby car park will bring visitors up close to Double Arch. From afar, I think I can see that there is a single arch but it was hard to tell. Upon closer inspection, I saw that there are really two arches here, hence the name. There is the main arch which faces the visitor but there a second arch which is joined at one end to the first arch. It is amazing to see something like this since I always imagined that sandstone arches like these are very fragile and for two arches to form side by side, and survive to this day, is a unique occurrence. It is also hard to describe how large this place is. Visitors can walk right up to the base of the arch to get photos. It gets a quite steep inside though, so best to be careful.
