The Pilgrim Church of Saint John of Nepomuk in Zelená Hora is one of the more uniquely designed churches that I have seen. The church has a mix of gothic and baroque design though I think it is more baroque from my untrained eyes. The church is designed by having the central church in the center of the layout while the cloister would be built separately around the central church. I have never seen this kind of design before. What is more, the architect Johann Santini Aichel included the number five as a prominent feature of the design. The number five represents the number of stars which supposedly appeared above his body when he died.

Outside, I can count ten sides of the cloister walls. The Walls also have a concave design to it which give it a pointier look. However, it is time to go in the church grounds. Fortunately, the doors were already open and we were able to get through the cloister doors. Upon entry, we can see the central church which looked bigger than it did from the outside. Much of the central church was hidden from the outside by the cloister walls. You can probably just see the top of the central church and that is about it. The central church has a five pointed star layout, but it can be difficult to tell from the ground. Readers may want to look this up online to see how it looks like from above. The body of church has a more baroque style to it, including this rough spiral design which goes around the body of the church. Various features of the church were also meant to symbolize something, but all these were lost on me since there wasn’t much literature there to inform us of this.
