It was a nice day of visiting Canyonlands National Park and it just so happened that it was my last national park for this trip and it was short only because the park was just too large to visit in one day, besides, it wasn’t easy to visit all parts of the park and it is best to visit it over the course of several days with proper vehicles too. However, that does help me finish up earlier and I would get to rest much earlier as well. I have a long day ahead of me and I don’t want to oversleep.

I got up early morning the following day. I quickly got my breakfast at the hotel and checked out. It was time to leave Utah. I know that I was actually on the other side of Utah and I was trying to make my way to Las Vegas which is a six and a half hour drive. I had to get a big breakfast because I don’t have any plans on stopping apart from some bathroom breaks. On the way out of Moab, I also got a sandwich which would basically be lunch and I was off. It was mostly interstate driving all the way. The roads were wide and in very good condition. I was driving in cruise control most of the way, so it wasn’t that tiring at all, considering the length of the drive.

I know that it is not advisable to do one continuous six hour drive but surprisingly, I wasn’t tired at all. I was enjoying the drive, watching the scenery along the way until I started seeing some more familiar signs. These signs were for the places which I have visited earlier in the trip and I knew that I was almost about to get to Las Vegas. I didn’t hit any traffic until I was thirty minutes to Las Vegas which isn’t surprising. My goal was to get there before darkness falls and I made it in good time. The way into Las Vegas was somewhat familiar to me since I have been here before.

I checked in at the Plaza Hotel and Casino where I stayed the previous stay. I liked it there since it was close to Fremont Street. I noticed that at least the room I got was refurbished and it doesn’t feel as old anymore. What’s more is that smell that I noticed from my last stay isn’t there anymore. Whatever it was, they fixed it. Like the last time, I got a room on a higher floor. The room was huge and more than I need. I don’t know about the other hotels here but I was happy with this one so I didn’t bother looking elsewhere. One thing I noticed was that they now charge a flat resort fee. I didn’t like this since they should have just included it in the room rate. Advertising a low rate but charging a resort fee when you are about to check in is just plain misleading. It is a shame they need to resort to practices like these but I think it is pretty common practice here. I’d rather know that price upfront and that’s that.
