Tower of Babel at Arches National Park
Tower of Babel at Arches National Park

I was staying in the city of Moab in Utah to visit the two national parks just outside the city. It was a great place to base myself in. The park entrance itself is just off the main highway going out of Moab city. From here, visitors drive up the side of a cliff. I don’t see any arches yet but I think I am just getting ahead of myself. Arches National Park is one of the most well known of the national parks. Even if you haven’t heard of Arches, you probably have seen photos of it. I remember seeing a photo of an arch it stuck to me since. It has been like symbol of the desert in the United States. At that time, I didn’t even know where it was and I am so excited to know that I am already here at its doorstep.

Like any other self respecting national park, Arches National Park has a lot of places to see. The main driving route is lined with various rock formations that were given interesting names. Often, this is to describe how they look. I have already passed through some of them and I was left scratching my head because I can’t see the supposed figure. Maybe I was just looking at it from the wrong direction. I think it would help if they can superimpose the supposed figure on top of the photo of the structure to help visualize it. Although, there will come a time that it won’t look anything like it did because of erosion, which is still happening despite what it may appear.
