Hoodoos at Bryce Canyon National Park

I woke up early and left Zion National Park for my next stop in my whirlwind tour of the state of Utah. Getting there was easy since there was direct highway to Bryce from Zion. The scenery wasn’t as nice as I thought it would be but it was just as well since I won’t want to be stopping every few minutes to take photos. I got to Bryce Canyon National Park around nine in the morning and it was freezing. This was towards the end of November. I would find out that Bryce Canyon is at a higher elevation than Zion thus the much cooler climate here. I was ready for the cold but I was just not expecting it to be that cold.

By the time I got to Bryce Canyon, it was already past sunrise. I thought that I should just continue on to the rest of the park and start my visit. My first stop was at Sunset Point. I must have missed Sunrise Point and ended up here. There was plenty of parking here. I suspect that it is because a lot of people come here for sunsets and they would need a lot of parking for visitors. There is a large viewing area here which follows the rim. There is a huge natural amphitheater which catches some of the light. The sun is somewhat low in the sky and it helps to contrast the structures inside the amphitheater. I like how the scenery isn’t as distant compared to what visitors can see at the Grand Canyon. This one feels closer to you and I think it feels more real.
