Three Patriarchs Along the Virgin River
Three Patriarchs Along the Virgin River

With the weather clearing up a bit, I decided to try to see if I can get better shots of the Three Patriarchs. The Three Patriarchs are three prominent peaks side by side that they got named after the three biblical patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I would say they are peaks, but they aren’t really. They are actually just the edge of some cliffs which were carved out by the Virgin River eons ago. They look like peaks to people from below because they have pointed edges and pointed edges look like peaks when view from the bottom of the cliff. I’m not geologist, so this is the best explanation you can get.

There were some trees around the area of the bus station so I decided to walk a little closer to the cliffs to get a better view of the Three Patriarchs. This was when I encountered the Virgin River. There is a bridge which allows visitors to cross the Virgin River. The river looks much more lively here. There is a small drop here where the water becomes something like rapids but nothing really amazing. I found a spot along the banks of the river where I can take photos of the bridge together with the Three Patriarchs. My understanding is that this spot is also a good spot for sunrises but I would expect that prospective sunrise viewers would have to cram into this small area to do that.
