It would be hypocritical of me to say that I was disappointed with the Narrows at Zion National Park when it was all my decision to make whether to go in or not. The Narrows is arguably the most popular attraction in the park. I can tell since there was a steady stream of people making their way to the Narrows complete with their wading attire. Visitors can choose to go as far as they want in the Narrows but my understanding is that the river gets deeper the further in you go. I was the one who decided that I would not go in the Narrows because I was worried that I might get swept away, or I would slip and break my camera. I know, I can come up with a lot of reasons why I won’t go but I just decided to let it be.
By the time I got to the Narrows, it was starting to drizzle. It wasn’t that bad but it felt like a continuation of the early morning’s cloud cover. I would be a shame if the rain would really start pouring down since there is barely any shelter here. I started to make my way back to the visitor center but rain started to get heavier. I didn’t want to waste my time waiting for the rain to stop, so I just continued with my visit.
There was bus waiting for passengers when I got back to the bus stop. This time it was going towards the visitor center. There are several stops which I bypassed on the way to the Narrows and I think it is time to see what is so interesting in the other stops. I know it was raining but I still needed to go. The next stop is the Big Bend. With a name like that, it can only be a large bend in the Virgin River. The river itself isn’t much to look at however, what is more interesting here is what the river made. There is a massive wall of sandstone that was carved out the river over millions of years. What makes this special is the walls it mostly vertical it follows the bend of the river. I don’t think I have ever seen anything like this. Yes, it was raining but I still am amazed at what the river has done over the years.
