It has been a very long day for me. I flew several hours from the east coast to the city of Las Vegas. Got on a car and drove to Zion National Park for almost three hours. Then climbed up and down a mountain for two hours before finally checking into the hotel thirty minutes away from Zion National Park. Curiously enough, I wasn’t as tired as I thought I would be. I would have thought that some of the jet lag would have caught up to me but I think I was still fine. The hotel I checked into was good enough for my purposes but there weren’t too many options as far as eating is concerned, at least in the immediate vicinity.

Of course, I was lazy and I didn’t really want to go any further than I needed to but I still needed to eat. There is a Mexican Grill not too far from the hotel and I thought it was walking distance from the hotel. Las Lupitas Mexican Grill is also along the main road where the hotel so it was easy enough getting there. What first caught my attention was the statue of a bull perched high above the restaurant. If you have something like that than you have to be good. Las Lupitas Mexican Grill is a nice little grill which serves, surprise, surprise, Mexican food. I think I need to get used to this since there are a lot of Mexican restaurants in this part of the country.

Now, I would have to admit that I am not the biggest fan of Mexican food. I guess I never had really good Mexican food growing up and I never became fond of them. Now that I can try the original stuff, I would like to give it another chance. The restaurant is pretty typical of Mexican restaurants, colorful with a lot of Mexican motif. It seemed to be quite popular as there were a lot of patrons in the restaurant that night. I got myself a Carne Asada plate. I never had this dish in a restaurant before, so I would like to know how it really tastes like.
Like any other Mexican restaurant, my meal started with a serving of nachos, which I liked a lot. I always thought that Carne Asada was something like shredded beef but I was surprised to know that it is just steak. It doesn’t use expensive cuts like ribeye but somehow they managed to make the steak very tender. The meat itself is marinated giving it incredible flavors. I was used to steak just seasoned with salt and pepper but it seems carne asada has more to it. It goes without saying that I was very pleased with my meal. To push everything down, I got a bottle of Modelo. I was very happy with my meal and to top it all off, it wasn’t very expensive. I don’t know how much I would pay for a meal had a stayed in Springdale just outside Zion National Park but I’m sure it would have been significantly more. This is exactly the reason why I decided to stay in Hurricane. What’s more, people actually live here in Hurricane, which helps push down prices.
