It was already afternoon in the city of Köln or Cologne and it was starting to get dark. It was already dreary to begin with and it was very cold. I got my winter jacket on and I was still cold. It doesn’t help that walking by the river Rhine makes me feel even colder. Nevertheless, I need to keep my readers happy with continuous content so I must persevere despite the cold. I don’t intend to go very far since it is that difficult to walk in these conditions. I was hoping to walk to the next bridge and then cross the Rhine and finally head back.

I eventually made it to another lively looking place but there seems to be a historical structure here. It doesn’t seem to be that important since it has been turned into a bar or something. It is an old tower called the Malakoff Turm or Tower. Apparently, this defensive tower was built in the year 1855 and it is named after Malakoff Fort which is in modern day Ukraine. These days, the tower serves beer. I was surprised they were allowed to do this. The structure is still intact but turn it into a bar is rather strange to say the least.
