Rock Formations at Algarve

Yellow Submarine Along the Algarve Coast

Yellow Submarine Along the Algarve Coast

We were on an organized boat trip to tour the beautiful coast of the Algarve Region of Portugal. I now know that the coastline of the Algarve Region is spectacular so I have no longer have any misgivings about a trip like this. After all, it is not everyday that you get to see one of the most beautiful coastlines from the sea on a beautiful day. The sun only highlights the beautiful yellow hue of the rocks in the area. While I knew that there were a lot of beaches here, I didn’t know about the cliffs and this really changes things a lot for me.

With cliffs you inevitably would have strangely shaped rocks carved over the years by the sea. This area is no exception. It is common with tours similar to this to see things which aren’t really there. Several points in the trip, our guide would point out features which would be similar to other things. Such as an elephant drinking from the water. Or in this case, a yellow submarine. It is a happy coincidence that the rocks here a yellow and the rocks also happens to be shaped like a submarine. Sometimes you have to stretch your imagination to see the features but I think that is part of the fun.
