Franguinho de Albufeira

I was in a for a different traveling experience this time around. Instead of traveling alone just how I always do. But this time, I would be traveling we two families and with kids. I had to adjust my mindset that I would never get what I want so as long as I don’t have any expectations, I should be fine with whatever comes. We arrived at the Faro Airport and we arranged for transportation to get to town. Apparently, public transportation is not very convenient here in Faro so making transportation arrangements makes sense. Our driver doesn’t speak much English so it was challenging to get any information from him. We did manage to get him to bring us to a restaurant not too far away from the hotel.

Unsurprisingly, we asked to be brought to a grilled chicken place in Albufeira. Franguinho de Albufeira is not too far away from our apartment so it was convenient to go to. I was actually surprised that our driver agreed to bring us there. I would have expected us to be brought to the apartment and that was it. Maybe it was near enough that it didn’t matter if we were brought there. Franguinho de Albufeira specializes in grilled peri-peri chicken or as they call it – frango. The grilled chicken is something of a national dish here. However, the grilled chicken here was a bit underwhelming. I thought that the serving was not that big. The taste wasn’t that great either. I had better grilled chicken elsewhere in Portugal and this one doesn’t come close. I also remember that it used to be cheaper but maybe it is because of inflation or owing to the fact that this is a tourist city.
