Harvard Memorial Church

I was visiting one if not the most prestigious university in the world. Harvard University consistency ranks among the top universities in various rankings. The university’s graduates are very sought after and they end up in very good jobs, a lot of the alumni are well known the world over. I was at Harvard Yard which is the main green at Harvard University. It is surrounded by several halls. Most of the halls here tend to look alike and while they retain their original design, I didn’t think they were that attractive nor did they look interesting.

Approaching Harvard Memorial Church

One end of Harvard Yard has a different type of building. This one is obviously a church. Harvard Memorial Church was set up to meet the spiritual needs of the school population. The chapel isn’t particularly large considering the size of the school. The architecture of the chapel seems to be one which is consistent with the other buildings within the campus. It was built relatively recently in 1932 as a memorial to the Harvard people who died in World War I. I wasn’t able to enter the chapel since it seemed to be closed at the time of my visit.
