I like how there seem to be a lot of places to see here in Page, Arizona. A town seemingly born out of the necessity to have a place for dam workers to stay in. This place might seemingly be in the middle of nowhere but the nearby Colorado River has many gifts. When the dam was completed, Lake Powell was formed behind the dam. This created a new recreation area for the town. Visitors would be coming from all over the country to enjoy the place. Perhaps there is also the novelty of going sailing in a lake in the middle of the desert.

The Glen Canyon Dam itself became a tourist attraction. It is a amazing marvel of engineering like the more famous Hoover Dam. I have been to the Glen Canyon Dam itself and I thought that it was impressive but I thought that I was a bit too close to the dam to take proper photos of it. There is an overlook that lets you see the Glen Canyon Dam in its entirety. The place actually isn’t that large. There is a path from the parking lot to the overlook itself. To the left I can see the Colorado River as it continues on after the dam. To the left is the Glen Canyon Dam itself. It is actually a very good view of the dam and if you have a powerful enough lens, you should be able to get a good photo of it.
