Sandstone Scenery at Glen Canyon Dam Overlook

I found my way to the Glen Canyon Dam Overlook. As the name implies, it is another viewpoint to see the Glen Canyon Dam. By this time, it was already close to noon and the sun was already hot. I just wanted to get my photos and get out of here. There were already quite a few people at the car park so I have an idea of how busy it would be. Visitors would need to a walk down to the rocks to get to the view point. There is a flight of stairs here but it is narrow and honestly, I didn’t feel it was safe. There was always someone who is coming from the opposite direction which made coming down or up difficult. Not everyone would be able to climb the rocks on the side to make way for people.

If you managed to get past that, there is an area here which is surrounded by sandstone. You can see how the rocks formed in layers and it looks like you are looking at a book made of rock. I have seen how these can keep fossils intact for millions of years so it was fun to speculate what might be there. I know I won’t be able to go wandering out in the desert myself but getting to experience this kind of scenery is also nice. Apart from the extreme heat, I think it is a nice place to visit. I would imagine visiting in the fall or even winter would be nice.
