Grand Salon at the Chateau de Fontainebleau

The Chateau de Fontainebleau is much like the Palace of Versailles that it is a place where the French royals would stay. Like the more famous Versailles, the palace is also lavishly decorated. I remember my mind going numb from seeing room after room of astounding design. It was really too much to take but it is amazing to know that this just not something like binge watching some tv series but this is an actual thing that someone had made. While the Chateau de Fontainebleau may be a bit smaller in scale, it is by no means not able to stand up against its more famous cousin.

The palace of Fontainebleau is surprisingly older than I thought it would be. Successive monarchs would build on top of what was already there. Others would build an entirely new wing just because. Although from the outside, the palace might look very regular, that is, three large buildings surrounding the square, the reality is that there is more behind that order. For example, the original castle that used to be here is set behind the middle building. It can’t be seen from the outside and you probably need to know about it to have a good look at it. I’m hoping that going through the palace tour would bring me to all of these important places. I don’t know which one would give way, my legs or my mind from all of these outrageously designed rooms.
