Petite France

I arrived in the city of Strasbourg earlier than expected. The weather was incredibly good which I thought was great so I didn’t want to waste the good weather here and not take photos. I was hoping to make it to the southern end of the Grand Île in Strasbourg then I can go to the apartment and leave my stuff there. Without any real plan I was basically just randomly walking around. Little did I know that this random walk would lead me to one of Strasbourg’s most famous places – Petite France. It would sound strange to have a place named Petite France when you are already in France but that is the name given to this area.

Back when I was still planning my trip, I happened to stumble into photos of Strasbourg, specifically, Petite France. Let’s just say that those pictures just sealed the deal. Petite France used to be and industrial area with tanneries of all industries setting up shop here. The tanneries are actually quite odorous so this is not really a nice place to be in. As the years went by the industries got up and left as well. What is left here are these incredibly attractive houses which are now a tourist attraction. As you can see, it is like the whole place was frozen in time while the rest of Strasbourg has moved on.
